2015 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT

It’s sad to say that Mercedes-Benz will be discontinuing the SLS AMG. However, that sadness is quickly thrown away when we think that in its 4 year span we’ve had the SLS AMG coupe and convertible, the black series as well as the lime green electric version, GT3 racers and now the final version coming in 2015 – the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG GT.

It’s being shown at auto shows all over, and Mercedes has confirmed that there will only be 350 produced which includes both coupe and convertible. The car will come with AMG’s biggest most baddest 6.2-liter V8 engine, with 583hp and 479 lb-ft of torque. Unfortunately, this will be the last car to come with that engine. All future AMG V8 engines will be their current 5.5-liter model or a new 4.0-liter twin-turbo.

With AMG’s 6.2-liter V8 under the hood the SLS AMG GT hits 0-60 mph in 3.6 seconds with a perfect launch using their RACE START launch control system and AMG’s SPEEDSHIFT dual-clutch transmission. Maxing the top speed of a car is near impossible without the space, but if you’re able to expect to hit the limiter at 197mph.

One quick look at the car as a whole you can see that it’s got some awesome upgrades. From the exterior of the SLS AMG GT you can see it feature a hood with carbon fiber features, a carbon fiber front splitter, a new fixed rear wing and GT specific alloy wheels. Mercedes has also worked closely with Dunlop to get exclusive tires just for AMG that not only improve steering precision but also increase grip. You can bet that the GT will be a solid beast on the track and make you scream “POWER” like Top Gear’s Jeremy Clarkson.

You’ll also notice some exclusive updates on the interior of the GT as well. Designer leather with a quilted-stitch pattern, carbon fiber trim throughout, and a limited edition badge on the center console that states “AMG FINAL EDITION – 1 of 350.” You can also choose to have carbon fiber mirrors, engine covers, carbon ceramic brakes, and a Bang & Olufsen BeoSound surround sound system installed to really make it worth your money.

With only 350 available, buyers interested need to contact their nearest dealer and express some serious interest. Expect a supercar as beautiful and exclusive as this to appreciate in value years from now.
