The legendary Italian brand strikes again by delivering its first rear wheel drive hybrid: the Ferrari 296 GTB. The 296 sports a new 120° V6 engine coupled with a plug-in (PHEV) electric motor capable of kicking out a combined 818 horsepower at 8,000 RPM and 546 lb-ft of torque at 6,250 rpm. The 120-degree angle lowers the center of gravity, allowing for better weight distribution – listen closely and you’ll hear notes of a V12 thanks to this transformative layout. The combination of a V6 engine with an electric motor was done intentionally to provide an instant response that eliminates any turbo lag, making power delivery smooth and linear. Of course, this also drastically increases the fun factor.
