5 Ways to Spend Time with Dad for Father’s Day 2022

Share

Time flies when you’re jam packed with holidays, right? We’ve already gone through Mother’s Day, Memorial Day is this weekend, and in the blink of an eye, it’s Father’s Day.

(Note: Christmas, please take your time)

To all who are struggling to come up with Father’s Day gift ideas, just know – you’re not alone. I mean, what do you get the man who never wants anything or has everything he needs? Sometimes dads are the hardest to shop for and you end up getting him another Home Depot gift card, a tie, or a pair of funny socks. There’s nothing wrong with these, but if you’re like many people, you like to give experiences as gifts rather than a physical gift that might be tossed to the side to collect dust.

In our opinion, the best gift to give is a memory – one spent together so you can relive it over and over again. For a meaningful Father’s Day gift, check out our list of 5 ways to spend time with Dad this year.

Grill With the Grill Master

As simple as it is, bonding over food is a great way to share stories and spend time with someone. Surprise dad and make him laugh by getting some corny matching aprons and cook all his favorite foods.

If your dad’s not the type to loosen the reins of grilling and wants to do it all himself, make things interesting and have a cook-off. Who can make the best steak and avoid burning it? Split the steaks, or whatever your choice of meat is, in half and see whose is better.  A little friendly competition can make this simple Father’s Day gift a well-done one.

We had to throw a dad joke in there, sorry not sorry.

Head to Your Local Brewery/Distillery

Trying different beers at a beer tasting.

Ahh, nothing like the first sip of cold brewski with your dad. If your dad is a beer fanatic, try out his favorite IPA, Lager, Stout, Porter, or discover a new one together at a local brewery. Discuss the delicate notes and flavors of each beer as you slowly become an expert in Beer 101.  Not sure where to go? Craftbeer.com is a great place to find local breweries near you.

If your dad’s not a beer guy, opt for a distillery tour. Discover the process of distillation, matured liquor and filtration systems as you both figure out where you guys will go to eat afterwards. Because after all, you both will definitely need some food in your bellies after a day of drinking.

Go Axe Throwing

Release the viking in your dad and engage him in some friendly axe throwing competition. In recent years, axe throwing has hit the country faster than everyone becoming an F1 fan after the ‘Drive to Survive’ series hit Netflix (but hey, we’re not complaining). Axe throwing isn’t a regular daily activity, and honestly, it’s not as easy as it looks if it’s your first time. The both of you can develop a new skill together as you hurl a large, metal, 2 pound weapon at a lunk of pine as you debate who has the better aim. Check out Bad Axe Throwing, they have plenty of locations all across the country.

Take Him Out to the Ball Game

With the only main sporting events over the summer being baseball, look to snag some seats to the good ol’ ball game. Even if you can’t go on the exact day of Father’s Day, book tickets in advance and plan a full day out – the thoughtfulness of planning a day with your dad will mean a lot to him! You can get there early to see your favorite players practice batting before the game, or put dad’s arm to the test at speed booths to see how fast he can throw. Most major league ballparks have these booths set up so you can attempt to reach the speeds an MLB player can throw. Fair warning though, the speed guns “might not be functioning properly” if your dad didn’t reach that 100mph target pitch. Check out MLB’s baseball schedule to find your dad’s favorite team and book your tickets!

Put Him in the Supercar of His Dreams

What better way to spend the day with your dad than being surrounded by supercars? Spend the day with Xtreme Xperience and get your dad the gift of a lifetime – a drive in his favorite supercar. With locations all over the country, you can choose which racetrack you want to drive and take a trip together. This unique Father’s Day gift will not only get his heart racing, but the gears pumping and adrenaline rush he’s been missing out on. You have a wide range to choose from: Lamborghini, Porsche, Ferrari, and more!

We have families come out all the time to come watch dad race on our racetracks and after a few interviews, we’ve heard:

  • “He’s ALWAYS wanted to do this”
  • “He used to have a Ferrari but we had to trade it in when we had kids so this is definitely a nostalgic experience for him.”
  • “He thinks he’s a racecar driver going down I-90 so we’re glad to see him do this without us holding on for dear life in the car.”
  • “We can’t believe something like this exists so once we saw the ad, we booked right away.”
  • “This will definitely be a yearly tradition going forward.”

Look, we know we’re a little biased, but we’ve seen the look on people’s faces after driving a supercar and it looks a lot like this:

If racing around a track isn’t dad’s cup of tea but he’s still a supercar fanatic, we also offer Open Road Tours for those who prefer taking a scenic cruise on some of the best roads in the country. You can ride as a passenger with him and spend an hour to a full day trying different supercars, and end the day with trying to figure out which car was your favorite.

At the end of the day, it’ll be a really cool memory for him to go and tell  his friends about.

Also… we are currently running our Father’s Day giveaway! Yes, you read that right. A sale to help get dad on a racetrack near you. We’re giving away $50K worth of drives AND if you enter, you can unlock up to 25%off a racetrack or Open Road experience. What better timing?!

Bring him out to the racetrack and ignite the child in him as he hops into one of his favorite supercars.
