A Lamborghini That Refuses to Live in the Past

Following the Huracán wasn’t an easy task for Lamborghini. That car had dramatic styling, a V10, and a sound that could be heard from several blocks away. Lamborghini could have played it safe with the successor, but in true Lamborghini fashion, they didn't.

The Temerario is built around an all-new aluminum spaceframe and powered by a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 with a flat-plane crank (the layout race engines use) that revs all the way to 10,000 rpm. For context, the Huracán's V10 signed off around 8,000. Five-figure revs are superbike territory, and Lamborghini tuned the exhaust so that climb builds into a proper mechanical crescendo instead of getting muted behind layers of electrification.

Then there are the three axial flux electric motors. One sits between the V8 and the transmission. The other two power the front wheels individually, which means the car can meter torque to each front tire on its own. Combined output: 907 horsepower, through an eight-speed dual-clutch and all-wheel drive. The motors plug the gaps in turbo power delivery, sharpen throttle response, and fire the car out of corners with no waiting.

The Temerario goes from 0 to 60 mph in 2.2 seconds, with a top speed of 210 mph. Absurd numbers on paper, but on a racetrack where you feel the acceleration through your shoulders, they hit differently.

The side panels carry more shape. There's still plenty of theater, but it looks more mature and more tightly resolved than the Huracán that came before it.
