Up To Speed with the Mitsubishi EVO

Have you ever wondered why we love our EVO’s so much?

Whether you have been to an XX event or not, there’s a good chance you have seen one of our track prepped Mitsubishi EVOs, tatted up with black and orange graphics. These little 4-bangers get solid gas mileage and still outpace 600hp Lamborghinis on the track. Are you kidding me? NO! We’re serious.

See? I wasn’t lying.

So, you might wonder why we choose the EVO? Well, because it’s an EVO Ten or X. That’s why! I’m kidding, but here are a few reasons why it made sense. Let’s go back to the beginning.

When we sought out a lead car for the Xperience, we required a few things:

  • Speed
  • Reliable and Safe
  • Four Door access for passengers
  • Access to affordable mods
  • Xtreme (X) Factor < already cleared that up

The above list really narrows things down, but with the sure-fire need to beef up the car to handle the track and additional passengers, the list began to get pretty slim.

Our techs began to shop for cars in a certain price range and focused on those cars they had experience with. Having previously worked on a few EVO X’s and also seen their potential on track, this allowed the Lancer to evolve into the heavy favorite. (See what I did there?)

The team needed a bit of selling, and they mulled the idea over as we began to shop. Needless to say, had Donut previously produced this video, they would have had an easier time convincing the peanut gallery.
