McLaren’s gone into OVERDRIVE since the release of the P1.

This image has been circulating the web as of the past few weeks. And as with any concept design you have to take it with a grain of salt because we all know “it won’t look like that” as Jeremy Clarkson claims.

At first this concept came to the web via a customer and about a week ago it was officially released from McLaren themselves. The design is heavily focusing on a redesigned rear end with a much larger diffuser and insanely large wing – begging the question “did they strengthen the rear axle?”

This new track-focused P1 is set to debut at the 2014 Pebble Beach Concours d’Elegance on August 15, and we’re hoping it looks as insane as the concept design. Production won’t begin until about a year later when the last of the base model P1’s are finished.

You can expect the price to be well north of $3 million, especially if you don’t have a P1 already because it’s exclusive to current owners only. Cool part though is the P1 GTR Package comes with a comprehensive set of driver training, events and trackside support as well. If only other companies offered that type of service…

As for McLaren, they’re seriously stepping up their game with the P1 & P1 GTR. Consider this, until they released the Mclaren 570s  their previous model was almost 10 years ago, and now we’ve seen 3 new models within the past 5 years, and a predicted fourth to replace the 12C.

Kudos McLaren, way to come back.
