How to conquer the track – like a Pro

Hallett Motor Racing Circuit is a fun track to drive, but it’s also very challenging due to its elevation changes and blind turns. For this reason alone, we recommend a ride along in the lead car for 3-discovery laps, to get your eyes ready for your drive. This will make you faster on the track, as opposed to learning as you go.

  • As you drive through Turn One, be sure to look up to the top of the hill ahead. Spotting the cone placed on the right side of the road will keep you on the track as you exit the first turn. – Brad Pines (Chief Instructor)
  • Not only is Turn Two a very sharp left-hander, but it is also blind. Be sure to take it slow during your first lap, and be ready to turn left as you make your way over the hill. – Cal DeNyse (Lead Instructor)
  • Turn Four and Five require added awareness as you are coming over a hill, this time be prepared to turn right. Once you are straight, it is a hard braking zone. You can build up speed on your second and third laps, but you won’t know where you are going until you have been there. – Cal DeNyse
  • When exiting Turn Five, “Bird Turn”, be sure to look all the way downhill to the next turn-in cone at Turn Six. This will keep you on a straight line, and help prevent running wide and off the track. – Brad Pines
  • The best trick to help navigate a blind turn is to establish reference points.  These are fixed items on or near the track that will help guide your way through or into a blind turn. For example, as you enter Turn Seven you’ll see what appears to be 3 power line poles in the distance…aim for the poles until you crest the hill, then get your eyes on track, because you’re in the middle of “The Bi*ch Turn” as Hallett calls it. This turn is famous for throwing off the tempo of drivers, causing them to turn in too early, or braking too much, resulting in some sticky situations. – Jeremy Rivera (Core Instructor)
  • An excellent rule is to always have the wheels straight while crossing a hill and looking to the apex cone at Turn Nine will keep you from turning. Keep straight as you cross that blind hill, and brake straight as you land and run to the outside of the track. – Brad Pines
  • Be patient on the last turn, leading into the straight. It takes longer than you might think to get through there. Use your eyes and make sure you can see the straight before you accelerate, otherwise your front end will wash out to the right. – Cal DeNyse

A final word from our lead Instructor – Brad Pines:

Make yourself have ‘Hungry Eyes‘ and keep seeking the next set of track cones. Plan ahead, don’t react. Relax and have fun, we’re all about making lifetime memories, so don’t worry too much about a little bit of time here or there. Hallett is one of the most enjoyable road courses in America, which means that driving it in an Xtreme Xperience Supercar, will be even more amazing!

As always, we recommend that you purchase a photo and video package to remember your Xtreme Xperience forever! That way, you can see if you remembered to stay smooth through all those blind turns, and hit all the apexes. Now get out there and remember to Keep Calm and Turn in!
